Still, Dead Island had never quite been the game that Techland envisioned it to be, due both to creative differences with the publisher and hardware limitations. In 2011, Techland released Dead Island on most seventh generation consoles to mostly positive reception. Because Techland had already done this with the original Dying Light, fans were more than receptive to the studio's most recent promise.Note: Dying Light Platinum Edition is unavailable on Switch eShop in Europe at the time of writing pending an issue with the game being banned in Germany. Techland also drew praise for its promise to support Dying Light 2 for at least five years with post-launch content. The studio later confirmed that this was a figure meant for completionists who wanted to see everything that the game had to offer. In other Dying Light news, Techland caught flack for claiming that Dying Light 2 would take 500+ hours to complete. The only question now is a matter of when, which Techland confirms will be within six months of February 4. Techland has always done its audience right, so there's little doubt that the Switch version of Dying Light 2: Stay Human will deliver. If this is what happened, then Switch owners have a reason to celebrate. The mixed reception of other cloud ports by other developers might have played a significant factor in Techland's decision. ![]() The silver lining here is that Techland wants to make sure that the cloud port of Dying Light 2: Stay Human does the game justice. ![]() Many critics and audiences were surprised by the quality of the game's native Switch port, so Switch owners are understandably disappointed that Dying Light 2 isn't coming to Nintendo's portable console at launch. Techland released a Switch port of Dying Light, Dying Light: Platinum Edition, out of the blue this past October. If it's any consolation, Dying Light 2's release is pretty much confirmed now that the game has gone gold, we just don't know when! But, as Dying Light 2's "original" release date inched closer, Techland pushed the game's launch once again to its current date.
